Welcome to Term 1 at Buckland School!
Dear Parents, Caregivers, and Whānau,
A very warm welcome to the new school year! My name is Matua Adam (Adam Scott), Weka’s teacher this year, and I am looking forward to getting to know each and every learner (and everyone else involved!) to work together to have a successful year of learning.
To help us start the year smoothly, please read through the following important information.
🕰️ The School Day
Arrivals: School grounds open at 8:30 am. If your child arrives before this time, they must sit and wait outside Kea Classroom until supervision begins at 8:30 am.
Start Time: School starts promptly at 8:55 am. Learners need to be in the classroom and ready to start the day by this time.
End Time: The school day finishes at 3:00 pm.
☀️ Sun Safety & Swimming As it is Term 1, we are making the most of the summer weather.
Hats: A school hat is required every day for outside play.
Swimming: Swimming is a core part of the New Zealand Curriculum. Students are expected to swim every day unless there is a medical reason not to.
Gear: Please pack togs and a towel daily. A rash shirt is mandatory—students will not be able to swim without one to ensure they are sun-safe.
💻 BYOD Devices
Setup: If your child has a new BYOD device, please do not bring it in Week 1. New devices will be set up in Week 2.
User Agreement: Please ensure you have signed and returned the Buckland User Agreement. Your child will not be able to access their device at school until this is signed and returned.
📚 Library, Homework & Stationery
Library: Classes will have a weekly library session where they can borrow 2 books. We also encourage you to join the local library for extra reading material!
Homework: Please ensure your child practices Mathletics regularly and reads as much as possible at home. Other homework may be provided throughout the year.
Supplies: Please ensure all stationery is named and brought to school ASAP. Don't forget to pack a pair of headphones for learning activities.
Class Parent Meetings I would love to meet you and discuss the year ahead on Tuesday, 17th February.
